unknown device!!
« on: 31 January 2009, 15:38:08 »

on my m reg 2.5 gls estate there is a 'device' behind the front passenger side bumper. looks like some kind of motor with two pipes coming off it. anybody know what it is and should it make a noise like a dog grinding its teeth on a bone?

I'm probably wrong, but I think it's a seocndary air injection pump. And they're always noisy, but it probably needs a clean and lube...

Is that noise just for a short period after start up?

I also think its the secondary air pump which can be safely disconnected afaik.
