Non start after rebuild!

Right I've just tried to start after changing the rings and everthing associated.

Turned the key and there is faint signs of life and then stops suddenly :-?.
Removed the plugs and it turned over nice and smoothly with no nasty noises at all. Plugs are dry so there is no oil getting past the rings. There is nothing wrong wih the block.

C'mon I need the most brainy of omega nut heads  :D

Daft question, but it's tripped me up before - are the leads on the right cylinders?

Hmmmm :-?, I wrote them down before I took it apart as there was no numbers on the coil pack :o

But just to be sure, does any one know the order they go on a mini facelift 4 pot???

Piston or connection on the coil pack? Numbering the pistons 1234 going from front to back I have the leads connected on the coil pack looking from in front like so

Right, tried again and looked at the plugs, No.3 is covered in black stuff. It isn't oil as I put new oil in and it feels like lighter fluid but stinks of petrol.
WTF is this coming from?!?!?!?!

sounds of it its not firing on that cylinder so its not burning the fuel
prob leads not on the dis pack right
i see if i can find the layout

Trouble is it's not firing on any cylinders. While cranking on the key it just stops suddenly as if it was preignighting. With no plugs it just truns soundly. :'(

Check the timing, both valve timing and spark timing ....   sounds to me like one is way out .... :(

Just removed my throttle housing and there is a biggish pool of water in my inlet manifold :o :o :o

Hasn't done any damage (good compression), there is a god :)

But how the break does water end up in ones manifold >:( >:( >:(

It was wrapped up in plastic in the shed while everything else was going on :-?
