Cheapo Tech2 via USB is always going to be problematic. Its hard enough getting it to work with a real COM port. Sorry.

Some things that may help:
Stop any background programs - MSN etc
Stop any other apps except Tech2
Force the interface to COM1 in Device Manager

Beyond that, I'm afraid it isn't looking hopeful.

my experience is that this is useless, dealer told me first it would fit my '97 x20xev After I had tested it for a while I had troubles getting engine diagnosis. I only got diagnosis from ABS system, central locking system, and other useless crap. Contacted dealer again, he told me that I should have knew that a cheap product wouldn't  work.. Doh... It turned out that this doesnt fit my car anyway, so he offered me a discount on a more expencive modell, which I kindly rejected..

Good luck, but dont be dissapointed if this does not work.. whats your modell anyway...?

I've used all these and they either dont work or fail very quickly. Ended up buying the Vauxhall Diagnostic Scanner which is excellent in my opinion

Its expensive at £340 but when you offset that against stealer charges it dont look too bad

it will work on 2.2 (petrol & diesel), 2.6 and 3.2. Won't work on the more common 2.0, 2.5 (petrol or diesel), 3.0 :)
