Whilst running the engine after changing my alternator last night, I was giving things like the spill pipes etc the once over when I noticed some coolant had spilt into the well around the front injector.
I was about to stop the engine to mop it up when I noticed bubbles, one every second or so, coming up from around the injector.

Any ideas ?

Guessing its diesel, not coolant in the well?  Most likely the copper ring at bottom of injector.  I've yet to find a source for these, as I'd like to replace all mine as a matter of course.

I found this on the Astra forum  

"Sorted the leak. in the end it was the fuel line, where it bolts on the injector the diesel was running down this making it look like it was the copper washer. I tightend it a bit more and hey presto. I think people are mistaken for copper washers as it bubbles round where the injector goes into the block, this is only because of the diesel running down and the heat making it bubble. I spoke to a mechanic who worked with Vauxhall's for over 20 years and he said he never has had to change the copper washers on the injectors on these engines.

diesel pumps and head gaskets are the most common problems he's had to deal with on these engines."

Try tightening the injector pipe a bit more.
Sounds like it's fuel drizzling down the injector from the injector-pipe connection.
If the injector-to-head copper washer had failed, you'd hear a pronounced 'chuffing' noise, as this would be compressed gases escaping.

And if you want to get them to seal better then heat the old ones up until glowing red and then let them cool down.

This will re-anneal them which, when re-fitted, will then form to create a good seal again.

Tried that... ...ended up using another washer from a spare injector....

Annealling seemed so much easier when I did it at school 20 odd years ago

Nope, definately coolant.
It spilt there as I removed the coolant hose from the engine block to allow better access to the alternator.
Before that the area around the injectors was clean and dry.  No leaks from the pipes. With the well full of the coolant I could see these little bubbles.
I'll try pouring the same amount of water in the well when the engine is cooler, but it didn't look like the bubbles were caused by heat. One bubble every second or so, coming from the same point at the base of the injector.

What do I use to check they are tight and what is the correct torque setting ?

Use a torque wrench - tighten to 65Nm.

Is it just a deep socket or is there a specific injector jobbie ?
I'm contemplating taking the injectors off the Elite, getting them serviced and fitting them.
The Elite has done 225,000 miles and the motor was running real nice. Took it off the road due to the rear shocks making an appearance in the boot. My current 2.5td has done about 102,000.
What can I expect to pay to have the injectors serviced ?

It's a 27mm jobbie!
