Infotainment warning messages
« on: 10 February 2009, 15:54:17 »

When a warning message shows up on the infotainment system, such as low windscreen washer fluid or low coolant, whatever, is the only way to clear the message by depressing the button on the wiper stalk?

If the message goes out itself, is that likely to be a faulty sensor?

If you have a "Check" on the MID and press the stalk you will see Check on the bottom right.
The only way to get it to go out is fill the windscreen washers up or the coolant etc..... unless you do have a sensor problem

I guess the warning could go out if it is borderline....meaning if the water resevoir is close to low level......but then recovers ?

Dunno about the stalk control, I have to press the multi-purpose selector button on the NCDC panel.....but I guess it is down to what ICE is fitted

Some 'info' messages cancel themselves after a while, eg washer level. 'Warning' messages tend to stay until cancelled via stalk (or steering wheel/stereo on satnav stereos)- eg oil/coolant.

Ive noticed that when you switch the ignition off the messages are shown again in sequence (if more than one)

Thanks for that and possibly explains my oil warning message. My oil level check sometimes comes on and goes away iteslf. So it is probably a faulty sensor as the oil level is topped up. I just wanted to make sure before splashing out 60 quid on a new sensor. (I would guess the wiring has gone in this hot climate).
