Me and my miggy in France
« on: 06 February 2009, 16:11:43 »

 :) Hi guys
thought I'd give you all an update of my progress with the CT test in my post (Xeno headlight headache 4/02) here in France.Got the bad news ,3 probs
1-even with the levers adjusted the mech says the lights are still kicking to the left (photo of the beamfor anyone interested)
2- CO is outside the french permitted levels slow 2.3 fast 2.4 Lambda .994,whatever that means
3- Suspension bushes clapped out(Photo)
at this point the mech has said not to go and buy new light units until the garage have a go at adjusting them if any.
Are  the emmissions adjustable
Are the suspension bushes just that or is it a complete new part
Ce st le vie as they say in France. I say Bullocks pronounce it any way you like
Be interested in any comments. cheers.

1. Emissions are not adjustable, new lambda should sort this out.

2. Suspension bushes if these are the front lower wishbone ones then replace the front lower arms complete.

3.If the headlight beam is still flicking to the left then there is a bar that you can flick over which isby the main beam bulb side, if not you may need to replace the headlights I'm afraid.

The range of acceptable lambda readings is 0.97 - 1.03 so your lambda figure is OK. The problem with your emissions is the high CO figures. For vehicles used before 1 July 2002, the CO figures should be no higher than 0.5% slow and 0.3% fast. For later vehicles, the CO limits are 0.3% slow and 0.2% fast. I had a similar CO emission problem with the Omega (V6) which I keep at our holiday home in Spain. After a high speed run for about 50 Kms along the autopista to clean out the catalyitic converters I took my vehicle back to the testing station and the CO readings had dropped from 2.4% to 0.02%.

Vehicles which are left unused for a while, or which  are used for short stop/start journeys should be given a high speed run before having their emissions tested.
