Heater Problem.
« on: 02 February 2009, 00:36:23 »

Hi all,
I've still got a problem with my heater :(. It won't give any heat since i reset it after refitting battery.
When i switch off the ignition you get 2 -- in the heat temp.windows on the pass/driver's sides.

I've been told by one garage that they will look at it for £50 to start + £? for whatever they find wrong and to fix :o :(.

I don't really want to pay out that sort of money(£50)just to be told they can't find the problem >:(.

Is there anything i can check myself to find the problem as it was fine before and after replacing the battery and only went t*ts up after i reset it ::).

I can't afford to pour money down the drain with a garage whilst being no better off than i am now :(.

As i say all the ECC seems to work apart from getting no heat :-? and it's Bl**dy coooooold out there :(.

        Any suggestions gratefully received :y.

Try resetting it again (hold on & auto  buttons in for 5 secs), I have had differing results with the ing.. on or with the engine running- runs of vac pressure I belive, so may be worth trying after you start the car.

Thanks Al but have tried it all ways but still no heat :(.

What actually controls the ECC system, i mean is there a control box somewhere that can be removed and looked at. The garage mentioned something about dry joints, so assume he meant on a PCB :question.

Hi, sorry, I am sure you knew to try resetting it again. I just know that I have had the -- showing on the display and it took a few atempts to clear it. Anything can break at any time, but I doubt changing the battery caused a fault other than needing to reset the cc.
Like I said, mine took several attempts to get it to clear.

Has anyone else got any ideas as to why my heater is not working properly or had the same problem and sorted it out :question.

         Thanks,
                   Pete :).

no joy then Pete?
Can you describe what happens during the reset? Maybe a mobile video(sound will be important) or similar? How long does it take start to finish? Just wondering if its running out of vacume supply before its finished its cycle?

I lost heat to the drivers side a few weeks ago, tried the reset several times but no difference, turns out it was the arm of the servo motor in the footwell, worth looking at, but it wont explain no heat, are you getting anything from any of the vents?

   Hi Chris,
Everything about the heating system seems to works as it should except there's no heat :(.

So are you saying that the fans are working at all speeds but it`s blowing cold air through all the vents :question

Just some points on my findings as I had no heat till yesterday, may be of no use  to your situation though. The heater bypass valve allows hot water to the matrix with No vacuum, [ vacuum turns it off ] my heater pipes were luke warm, I flushed the matrix & reconnected the pipe from the heater bypass valve &  had a flow through the matrix but on reconnection of the other pipe it still would not work. I then put a hose onto the return pipe & flushed through to the expansion tank [ top off ] , reconnected & all was hot.  ;D  :y  Seems I had an air lock or blockage on the return.
Strange thing is I had my battery disconnected recently to do the dis pack??
