well the plodder passed its mot! however new prob.
« on: 11 February 2009, 20:07:30 »

the mv6 had its mot earlier, and passed after all the work! however, started it before, all fine, went to pull off (was on mud) the tc kicked in, then abs and tc lit up and speedo stopped... now they wont work at all!

ill check the abs sensors tomorrow, got some spares too, but im sure i read somewhere that there is a fuse too which can blow and cause it all to stop dead...

as said, it was working perfectly till it span up a bit in the mud, then it all went pete tong...

failing that, can an el cheapo tech2 confirm the abs ecu is goosed??

cheers

Seems to be a spate of these atm - there is another thread around speedo/abs/tc problems and I am suffering the same. Got a new ABS/TC ecu en route to hopefully fix.....mine is intermittent :(

I don't know about anyone else but my ABS/TC is working overtime these days. ::)

Sounds like the pump / valves kicking in has caused it to fail. Possibly a poor connection, of course, and worth checking the fuse. (IIRC, the warning lights fail "on" when the fuse blows).

Mine is not a fuse, unfortunately :( Last 2 days, when I have driven to work all has been fine; when I start off home, lights on and no speedo :(

When mine failed on the old 2.5 .. it would play up when the car was cold, then start to work once fully warmed up, the time for this to occur gradually got longer and longer. If the car was switched off and restarted whilst still warm .. it never worked at all !!

I went the bba-reman route and had mine repaired .. I was well pleased with the service and price.

What is this ? I have a part on the way from Mutantcav, but does this mean there may be a use for my existing unit ?

Sorry to hijack your thread but i had a similar problem in the snow, except my tc was switched off so i could move a bit and all of a sudden the brake light lit up as well and i couldnt switch the tc back on. Then I switched the engine off and back on again and it worked! Is it possible for the abs ecu to over heat? Or should i be looking out for something more serious?

I'll check the wiring tomorrow, I forgot to mention I had some welding done to the battery tray too, so something could have been jigged loose.  Fuse will be checked tomorrow too (am I right in remembering 14 or something?? I can't remember...)

Well its been behaving itself for a change, it dies randomly, then comes right back on...  I need to clean the rear sensors this weekend see if it helps, but...

I've noticed, when the ABS throws its dummy, the ABS & TC lights lit... the ABS light sometimes 'dims' slightly (barely noticeable tbh) but itdims for about a second, comes back to full brightness, dims again, bright, then both go out and the speedo works.  TC light brightness is constant...
