i can alter the height from inside the car ok
and when i put it back to 0 and check the beam height it stil looks like it has not moved

Nick you have to turn them quite a lot until you see any difference, just keep turning them until it has reached the diesired height, if this still dosen't work then you will need to remove the lens to reconnect the clips inside that holds the reflector on.

Mark do you mean the one nearest the grill or wing?

Probably no help nick but if you use after market bulbs it can throw off the wrong beam...my passenger side light was literally pointing over at the drivers side light.

MOT mate tried too adjust but made no difference....popped the standard bulbs back in and hey presto.

Might be worth taking a look at the bulbs.

Recessed Allen key adjustment on the front of the lights...

Is that the front as you look at the car, or the back of the lights??

Nick,
the lever is inside the bulb cover in the back of the lamp housing, it's illustrated in the owners manual quite well...  once you know where it is it's easy to flick over for UK or Continental driving...

Think theres a PDF of a manual on here somewhere if you haven't got one..

DC  :)
