Morning, i'm looking to buy an omega but the car i was looking to buy has the following problems and was wondering if this would be costly and hard to correct, the prblems are The drivers heated seat does not work, prob just a fuse (owners comment). Also it does not idle well when cold and tends to cut out if you are not moving. I belive this to be a common Omega problem (owners comments) but it runs fine when warm and idles correctly

Any help would be appreciated

Depends a little on the spec/age of the car but...

Heated seat is probably the heater pad fubared... Can be replaced with cloth trim but leather is a pain! Interiors are readily available from guys on here and not particularly expensive

Stalling: If an earlier engine, i.e.2.0, 2.5, 3.0 litre, then probably the Idle Control Valve... About 5 minutes work to clean/replace as required

Check for Cambelt changes and servicing though

Hmmm, "Probably just a fuse" Well you can hardly expect anyone selling a car to go to the trouble of replacing a fuse!!!
I suspect the heater element is knackered, they can be replaced, I think there is a "How to" somewhere.

Your next problem could be simple, or not, I am sure someone here will tell you the breathers may need cleaning, or idle valve, or some other cheap fix, but it could be serious and expensive.

If I were you, I would offer the owner a few quid more than your lowest offer, and let him fix the idle at least.

It may well be worth posting the details here, spec, year, miles, condition etc, then experts here can give you better advice than I can.

Nice one people..... so glad i joined this site, by the way the car was a 2.5 CDX auto on a W plate and wants £950 ono the car is in fantastic condition with 95,000 and FSH. The two main issues being the above, Seat and Idle...

Not many driverside leather heated seats work its a common problem and in my opinion not worth the trouble to replace the pad, its easier to send the wife out 10 minutes before you to heat the seat

You need evidence of a cambelt and tensioner change, if not done recently use it to get the price dropped

Heated drivers seat, very common. Not much you can do about it. It won't be the fuse

Stalling - is it hunting? or just not reviing high enough when cold?  Could be a number of things - CTS/ICV/EGR/Airleak etc.

now that I fixed it!      Can't have everyone else in the car with a working heated seat & not me.
