« on: 08 January 2009, 10:00:20 »

I cant beleive it cost do much!    I need a complete cat back  and cannot fin anywhere that sells after market system.  I'm looking at £400  parts from dealer and local fitting.

Kwick fit and other places simply on do them.  Any advice welcomed.

The hardest part to get is the rear section....the two centre sections are the same on ALL Omega B V6 models.

I have just fitted a system from EternalCar (http://www.eternalcar.com/). £126 delivered including fitting kits. They don't list the facelift as an application but it fitted my 3.2 saloon with no problems at all. The tailpipes are a little shorter, but I will probably fit some chrome trims anyway.

Quality of the parts supplied was fine, especially for the money. Sound wise it has a deep burble that wasn't as prominent with the original system (as far as I can recall. I drive it for a few months with a blow!). Not the usual unpleasant raspiness that you get with some cheap exhausts.

If you're contemplating spending in the £400 region, get a stainless system made.

I recenty changed the exhaust on my 2.6. As you say most places only have 2.5 and 3.0 in the catalogue. I ended up with a 2.5 centre boxes and a 3.0 rear box which seem to fit OK from National Tyres. Think it was made by Timex? Cost was £275. Not sure I can recommend it though. It's been back once already to have the rear box changed as the original was way too noisy. The replacement is better but no where near as quiet as the OEM one it replaced. I think if I had the choice again I'd probably pay more and go for a custom made stainless one.

Just on a seperate note didn't someone on here say the dealers are selling pattern exhaust as well?

Quality appears to have come down to pattern levels. Cost hasn't. ;)

Quick update in case anyone else is in the process of changing the exhaust. I ended up taking my 'mega back again as the new exhaust was still too noisy and had started rattling at tickover. I gathered that there have been "issues" with Timex's quality control so the exhaust was replaced with a Walkers one. It's much much better, seems as quiet as the original but as I've had a boy racer exhaust for the last 4 months I've probably forgotten what the original exhaust sound like.
