Taking my 2L CDX to the scrappys, what do I keep?
« on: 01 March 2009, 18:47:05 »

Been thinking about what I can nick off my old motor (2.0 CDX auto) before it gets scrapped. I have a 2.5 V6 (Reflection) now but what parts could be useful for me in future for replacements?

So far I'm taking out:
Cruise control (-->V6)
Speakers (spares)
boot badge (fleabay)
keys (fleabay, or keep).

(EDIT: MOVED KEY BIT TO NEW THREAD)

Wood trim if the new one hasn't got it.

Have you got a rear blind in your old one? Well worth swapping parcel shelves. Spare wheel. Always handy to have a central locking motor & a window motor. What are the alloys like? Mirrors are worth having, as spares or ebay. Can't think of owt else. ::)

Interior: Storage is an issue so unsure about the seats etc, I don't have a garage and my cellar is a recording studio so no room! Although the interiors in very good nick apart from passenger seat's plastic pocket which has a scratch on it from some stray tip rubble. Is it worth just taking the door cards (perfect nick)?

Wood trim: all OK, but new one has graphite/black trim, which I prefer in all honesty.

Other bits: armrest latch broken, gaiters worn, glove box is fine.

Engines shafted I think. covered in oil too, pretty bad oil and minor coolant leak AFAIK. Battery OK.

Cat: I'm rubbish with mechanics but would have a pop at removing it...but I was  told by a mechanic the car needs to be driveable into the yard, is that misinformation?

Switch gear: yeah another good call.

3/4 doors are good, passenger rear has a botched trim repair where the last guy used a flat head screw to hold the trim on, WTF???  ;D

I'll re post the key bit as a separate thread.

Cheers guys, keep it coming!  :y

Oh bugga, is it? I searched the site and harvested quite the opposite - that I'd only need a clutch switch. But I don't have a clue about it so would like to know more if poss. Ta

No rear blind - spare, jacks etc I spose yeah defo. And youre right about the locking motor, I think my v6 one is a bit weak. Mirrors too aye I'll ave them!

Bowden cable on the V6 is longer IIRC, rest of the kit (actuator, scruise switch) are the same.

Does your Reflection have a multiplug on the drivers-side suspension turret in the engine bay which isn't connected to anything??  Or hanging down the side??  If it does, then you have wiring for cruise, if not, then it's doubtful to have it...

If you're keeping the keys, you will need the "Tranponder ring" I think it is called, I am sure someone will advise about this.
CD player?

Only need the ring if you're keeping the Engine ECU to sell elsewhere ;)
