dont no she takes a long time to start then when she dose it smokes like u start it from cold plugs cant make it out any advice welcome

Firstly, its bad etiquette to start numerous posts about the same issue - you only need to post it once and it will get read (and answered) eventually.  Posting too many similar threads is tantamount to spamming...and you may not get anywhere

Secondly, please try and use punctuation and capital letters at the start of sentences - it makes it so much easier to read and understand.

If it throws plumes of white smoke out when it does fire, then its glow plugs (see my reply on one of your other posts - i've answered it already).

If I may make a couple of points ...

1. The same question numerous times won't get you any faster answers ...

2. "text speak" is against the forum rules and is difficult to read/understand

3. A search on past poor starting problems for the TD engine would probably answer most of your questions.

ok .Guys it starts ok when very cold .When a bit hot it struggles very bad sorry if i going on i new here i will get the way this works .cherrs richy.

In that case, i'd suspect the infamous temperature sensor in the pump - not good news but can be diagnosed eaily enough....throw a pint of cold water over the injection pump on the engine - if it behaves 30 seconds later, then its that.  Do a search through the forum (Search button above) for "2.5td pump temperature" and that should find some more ideas..

Acts normally...i.e. will start without turnig the engine over for ages.

Look its saturday night ... a lot of the experts might be out on the town .... there are a lot of very clever people on here ..i would trust what i was told on here more than any Vauxhall garage ... be patient ..

I had a similar problem on mine, which eventually turned out to be the starter motor dying...  i found it difficult to start the engine after it had been running for a while, was much worse on hot days...

Its funny u said that a mate of mine said it could the starter relay thanks for that il get it checked out .Richy

This problem with the 2.5TDs crops up on here from time to time, and as stated above, it's usually the fuel temperature sensor that's the culprit.

This is located within the injection pump itself, and is not user-serviceable. Try the previously-mentioned cold water trick - if the engine then fires-up reasonably normally, then you've located the fault. This had to be done to mine - even after a new pump was fitted at a cost of over 1200 quid ... !

I effected a cure by simply changing the battery, at around 60 quid!
The vastly increased cranking speed really spins the engine over, and gives positive warm-starting. Nearly a year on, it's still fine.
In short, your battery must be absolutely 100%.

i tried the cold water thing no good i brought it to a garage he is going to start at th tank filter and work to the engine and see wot is wot he  said there is a hot and cold starter relay is that true. thanks richy
