Facelift Omega - Rubbish heater?
« on: 04 March 2009, 23:48:13 »

My previous (non-climate and smaller engined) migs still had decent heating iirc.  The current one takes forever to heat up (as in just warm after 12 mile commute) and never gets that warm.  Any suggestions if this is normal on these or do I have a problem?  Aircon blows nice and frosty  :(

My Facelift Mig is pretty good, gets hot in a few minutes, but the blower stays off until the engine has warmed a tad then starts to blow, so as not to blow freezing cold on the windows, all in all a very good system, think you may have a little problem.

Had a facelift for 6 years, and while I always thought the Climate had a mind of it's own and I never quite figured it out, the one thing that was working well was the heating... after all the car was built by Germans for Germans in... err... Germany. And it's cold there. So in short I don't know what the problem is, but it is not one of those 'they are all like that' things....

Hi,
Sounds like you have a problem, heater on mine is very efficient. Will bring interior of car up to 22 deg C from outside temp minus 10 dg C in 5 mins from cold start.

Coldest I have so far experienced was minus 12 deg C outside, but in car was as warm as toast at 24 deg C.

I would start checking out operation of engine thermostat and HBV valve, and flap operation on heater unit.

Regards
Roger

Mine is red hot roasting at 28c!!! ;) :y

Heats up pretty quick, same as above, wont blow til there is some heat in the system.....

You could try using the recirculating button, that will heat up the cabin a tad quicker....
I would say as an average from overnight cold it takes about 5-7 mins to get heat....

A thermostat stuck open me thinks.....constant cooling! not good, car will never heat up if this is the case, will effect your economy and all sorts, thats how it takes ages to heat..(because it isn't!)

Temp gauge should sit half way on the dial... :y
