Fault but NO fault codes showing
« on: 17 March 2009, 11:53:56 »

Did the paperclip test on a 2.5V6 2000(W)
Just flashed up 12 and 31 when engine was running it just flashed up 12
So NO faults then - but it wont start
Had it on a machine today and that showed no faults
Been told its the crank sensor oh i its a common fault the dis pack common fault that mate and a relay thats got damp oh yes its a common fault that.
Car wont start it seems when its been stood overnight its not been raining and its not been too damp a couple of mornings
Spray WD40 everywhere as i dont know of a specific area to spray it and 2 mins later its off and running and will start as normal no problems 100 times during the day if needs be had new plugs and leads fuel and air filter battery is good
when i say wont start it turns over great just wont fire
Any ideas anyone been told to take it to VX but i aint got VX money really

Does the EML flash while it's turning over?

I wouldn't think that Vantage/Perrys will have any more ideas than you or I.
Have you checked plug wells for being full of oil? I can give you a lift to change the crank sensor &/or DIS pack if you like.  :y

Thanks Andy
I am away on Monday and have decided to leave it and put up with the fault till i get back Friday.
Have spent enough for the minute but i will give you a shout when i get back if thats ok with you
VX have told me it sounds like it could be 1 of 5 sensors causing the problem and  a diagnostic test is £80.50 for 1 hour as the half hour test may not be long enough to find any problem on my car??????
If it is  the crank sensor does it just not start full stop as once mine is going its fine all day

I have a 'Cheapo Tech II', but I'm not sure that will tell you any more than a paperclip test.  :-/
My car just died & would only restart when it decide it would do so when my crank sensor failed.
