OBD Test - STS Fail
« on: 17 March 2009, 18:48:01 »

Got a Maxscan 500 to clear the MIL caused by a P0420 and ran an Onboard Monitor Test today.   On Test $01 Data it comes up with

ID       05      06
MOD    $11    $11
MEAS   BF      AG
MAX     B4      B4
MIN      --       --
STS      FAIL   OK

Trawled the net and can't find what STS is and there's nothing in the code/abbreviation list for the reader to help.   I thought it might be some sort of Temp Sensor?

I think STS = status .. :)

so item 05 has failed the test .... unfortunately my maxscan is in the boot of the car and the wife is out in it, so I don't have the manual handy ... as soon as she returns I'll have a read.

OKies .. retrieved the thing .. page 34 of the handbook has the "bad" news I'm afraid ...

Quote
.......  The on-board Monitor Test retrieves and displays test rsults for emission related powertrain componenets taht are not continuously monitored ....... Test and components IDs are determined by the vehicle manufacturer

The CD gives no further information.

So I'm sorry I can't help as I've no idea what vx has set ID 05 to read .. :(

Thanks for the help.  I had a look on the CD as well and it's a bit thin in that it doesn't have a lot more than the meaning of the codes.  I trawled the net and couldn't find out what ID05 and 06 are either. Never mind - I'll keep looking!
