Do one side at a time, give yourself a couple of hours and be careful with the rear bolt

get a cold chisel or something wedge shaped to wedge the clamp open when removing the knuckle pin. Fit the rear bolt/bush in first, torque the bolts correctly with the suspension loaded/on the ground. Which is a pain as any torque wrench of that range will be too long and the handle will foul on the ground. Unless anyone has a further tip on that? Oh yeah, i revered the car in and out of the drive a couple of times to let the suspension settle
before torquing the bolts. The wishbones settle at a funny angle when you drop the car down off the jack.

Jack the car under the suspension - I used the hub - that way the suspension is squashed and I can fit underneath

do the front bolts up as tight as you can with a smaller wrench while the bushes are loaded (ie car on the ground) then jack up to do the final torque up :y

Or you could put it all back together drive the front of the car on to car rampsand then torque up the bolts that way you can still get under the car and the suspension will be loaded.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm all but finished doing my nearside wishbone, got it all back together (eventually) and have just noticed that I've accidently swapped the 21mm bolts over so I've got loads of thread hanging down from the rear vertical bush and hardly any on the horizontal bush  :-[ >:(

Will it matter if I leave them as they are because it was a pig to get back together? :-/

I swapped them over in the end.

I found the worst part of the job was getting the balljoint back into the pinch clamp after getting the wishbone bolts in first.

The strut carrier kept spinning round at an angle  ::)

Doing the off side tomorrow.....................

Any tips/tricks that may help me out.

Can someone just confirm the install procedure, is it rear bolt, front bolt and finally ball joint pinch clamp?

This is how I did the nearside one and it seemed to be a pig to get the ball joint back into the clamp :-/

When I've done both sides I'm going to put her up on ramps to do the final torqueing up.

Angle the bottom ball joint out and lever the wishbone down as you feed the hub in.

I was worried about levering the wishbone down and damaging the new bushes as it doesn't drop down as low as the old one.
