lumpy tick over
« on: 22 March 2009, 18:24:45 »

hello all I am looking for advice. To start bought car 3 month since but has spent half that time in gettting repaired.
1 losing oil (rocker gaskets replaced)
2 Mayo in header tank (oil cooler replaced solved  :y)
3 still losing oil (off side rocker gasket redone solved  :y)
4 full timing belt kit
since getting timing kit done tick overs lumpy, they told me valve timing was out so set it while doing kit,but now occasionally when go to start engine seems tight, leave it a couple of mins then try again and will start but tick over is lumpy and wasn't prior to garage setting valve timing, been back to them and they say its ok but Im not convinced.Does anyone have any advice or point me in the direction of a good mechanic who can check the valve timing and if so reset it,Im in Wigan
Thanks

i think your right not to be convinced, it does sound like a timing issue, just hope nothing has got damaged in the process, perhaps a fellow oofer thats local to you might pop up soon & perhaps take a look,,,,good luck :y

occassional to me suggests its not the timing its probily something simple  like the idle control valve

You're welcome to borrow my cam locking kit if you want to do it yourself. Not sure if I get the time to do it for you though.  :-/
I can meet you at Heinz if you want to.  :y

Not sure about that  :D ;) but he does know his way around an omega! I would have recommended him too as he came to look at mine when I was having problems and had it sorted in an hour but I didn't know if you wanted to travel that far (or if he wanted to travel to you).

He will sort it!!! :y
