its doesnt seem to get hot and when i took top off expansion tank and squeezed pipe like threads state nothing seems to happen, it is getting warm but only when driving, when on idle it goes cold again and temp rises quite high, around 100 degrees then goes down as i drive off. any ideas please, could it need a new thermostat??

could be thermostat stuck open or missing :-/

can it run without a thermostat, i wouldnt of thought that it would be possible

It will run without but wont get up to temp i would think  :y

ive had a few cars with  thermostats missing . have been taken out by privious owners for some reason . car runs fine but no heating in side car . this my not be the problem with your car some one on this forum may know the problem . there are some good guys on here  :y
