Running Temperature

Whatr is normal running temp for 3.0L V6??

I am finding that mine runs around the 95 mark most of the time. If I am stopped in traffic for a few minutes then it goes over 95 and the fans kick in to cool it down.

Is this completely normal or should it be running a bit cooler than that?

Sounds normal.....also remember that the gauges are not hugely accurate!

I'm intrigued by the answer as mine always ran at 85 deg on the dial.

Since I had the oil cooler out and replaced the thermostat, it runs quite a bit hotter (90+) and the fans are a lot more lively.

I will be looking for air-locks etc. as I would like it to be back down where it was.

Which sudgests your old stat was not closing fully.

Could be wrong here, but arn't there differant states that open at differant temps!!!

Bear in mind the facelift and prefacelift temp guage numberings are different.

Perhaps the best rule of thumb is to have the needle at or just below halfway.  If it rises then the fans should cut in and drop it again.

Thanks Hotel. 95 is halfway on pre-facelift gauge so I am not going to worry about it for now.  :y
