Head Gasket?
« on: 29 March 2009, 17:22:26 »

HI All, and a very happy sunday to you all. I have a problem, just tried to sell my p reg 2.0 gls to a chap who travelled a lolng way to look at it, he says my headgasket has gone. There is foam in the coolant header tank, I have drained the cooling system and the foam is still on the coolant on the floor, just like soap suds when you are washing your car? is this normal symptoms for head  gasket, oh btw, no overheating, took it for a 90mph blast and didnt miss a beat, no coolant leak, no overheating just foam in the heaader tank? anyone any ideas? :D

If as you say there are no symptons, seems to me you might do well with a full coolant flush and change :y

Out of interest.  Did the guy offer to buy it at a reduced price to compensate? ;)

No He didnt, but as he had come a long way, i felt obligated to offer it at a lower price to take into account the price of replacing the head gasket, lucky me, he declined and caught the train home. So now I can sell it again. Strange though I have never known a car do that before. Perhaps it was old coolant, I certainly hadnt changed it the year I have owned it. cheers.....
