95 omega front suspension
« on: 31 March 2009, 00:33:25 »

Hi guys Im new to this forum, and based in Auckland NZ which makes it difficult to source prts or help! I bought this tidy mv6 about a year ago and soon after I noticed it chewing through front tyres, I got worse till I parked it up. It was tracking offcourse with any camber in the road, squealing in a straight line, and when I took it for an alignment they told me that they could not adjust it out as there was to much play in the front lower arm bushes. I have the lower arms out, and the horizontal bushes are not original. I found this strange as the car has only travelled 92,000 kms! Any way the bushes are alligned with the arrow horizontal facing towards the outside of the car on both sides. The bushes have much more play horizintally than vertically, does anybody know how they are meant to be allingned or have any idea as to what else the problem could be?
I have read in this section that the camber can be adjusted. How?
Much thanks
Will

920000 the bushes will be worn common problem you can adjust the camber by the two strut bolts at the top of the hub carrier it should be just around -1 degree there are guides in the mainetance section on here that will take you thru it

by the way you can get the arms from just about anywhere but BMW m3 bushes will fit and may be suited more to your roads hope that helps
as the are a bit more solid than gm bushes surely you can source Holden arms as they are the same car and most people just change the arm with the bushes already in

Thanks alot. I will check the number on the bushes. They have been replaced within 5000km by previous owner, are non-factory with blue inserts. I am unsure if they are worn or mis-alligned, do you know where the arrow is supposed to point? Also Im probably being stupid but I can't seem to find a camber adjustment how-to in the maintenance section...
Cheers
