facelift bumpers on a prefacelift.
« on: 31 March 2009, 23:11:00 »

Would I need to change the bonnet on my prefacelift if I am putting on facelift bumpers or is it a straight swap? Have the chance of front and rear bumpers off a facelift but need to know if its ok without changing the bonnet.

Thanks Danny. Looks like I will have to have the bonnet as well. Do I need to change the slam panel as well?

So far I can see you have to change and lenghten some cables like the cables of the fog lights, temp sensor, screen washer and if I'm correct the facelift screenwash tank.
Maybe I can contact Peter who did this makeover.
I think he can explain better than me what he all did ;D

Hi.

I asked a similar question a while back.

I have a facelift, but want to change to preface lift as I prefer the preface lift look.

I believe that you also need the headlights from the face-lift model as there are differences between the different model year lights.

Don't know if this helps ?

I put a head light from a preface lift omega in one of my former facelift cars (smashed lense) and I all had to reuse the original fixings from the broken one, there was a very slight colour variation, but this could have been down to age difference, don't know if this helps  :)

Don't know for sure, as the advise seems to differ  :-? .

As some others have said, maybe worth talking to a friendly Auto parts place to see if they can help as well.

From what I can gather asking the same question, is they bolt up the same, but the lights slightly different shape, even though they look the same..

Any else shed any light on the subject  ;D  ;D .

Bound to be someone out there in the OOF land that knows for sure, as seems to be quite a few people wanting to know the same thing !.

Sorry can't help anymore at the moment, but if I find out for sure I'll let you (and everyone else) know.  :y

You don't have to change any cables or headlights they fit all omegas.
The only thing you have to change is the windscreen washer jets as the pre-facelift jets are on the bonnet and on the facelift they are on the scuttle below the windscreen, the bonnet catch is also the same :y

its quite an easy conversion the front bumper has the same bolt/screw holes so it fits straight on

Thanks for that Jim, but what about the slam panel isn't that lower on the facelift than the prefacelift? The thing is the car is 1997 on a P plate.
