lo chaps been a while.
did the normal sat shop and on the way out of the carpark i noticed a "clicking/clacking" noise from the car when not under power
by the time i got home it had increased in volume and was also happening albiet quieter whilst under engine load.
got her up on stands now and cannot see anything loose (thought maybe bolt on driveshaft was loose).
or could this be from the slush box? she has been starting to clunk into gear and changes arent the smoothest anymore

ok just read bigdods post ref handbrake
had another play with the old girl hand brake holds the car firm when pulled properly, took her out of drive and tried to turn the d/s wheel which turned very unhappily by the noises it was making,
the noise is consistent with vehicle speed.
going to order new shoes and pads and pull her to bits on monday hopefully this will be the cure if not i shall return!

Had a similar problem, the rear disc brake pad had become detached from the back plate. Good luck

couldnt wait so pulled her apart at the rear all brakes are fine H/B fine as well.
noise is not constant but dos match road speed not engine revs, still clanks in neutral but does not make any noise in reverse....
also clanked heavily on a down gear change.
right now thinking diff but....... :-?

I get a similar click clack noise between gears as a bit of slack in the diff winds and unwinds, how far can you turn a (back) wheel before prop shaft starts  turning?

its gone proper clunk today grinding and juddering local mech thinks driveshaft so that will be mucho dineros

If it`s the driveshaft contact one of the breakers on here. Easy out and in job. Undo bolts on rear of hub to release then prise from diff :y

nope it was the sodding diff
local mech reckons about 4 hours to fit replacement (£50 from local omega specialist near heathrow)
is that about right?

Absolute maximum it should take.
( did you get a grinding/rumbling noise when you were applying brakes to slow down) :question

sorry for delay in posting £170 notes later (+£50 for the diff)
replacement diff fitted and the old girl has a new lease of life also to my surprise at least 70% of the speed judder (45mph-55mph and 95mph-105mph) has gone so possibly a trip to WIM may fix the rest have new wishbones ready to fit already
