looking into the engine bay from the front . plastic with "turbo diesel" on passenger side there is a short large bore pipe going into a unit with a couple of small tubes  coming from it - (a)what is it,& whats its purpose. (b)why is there oil coming from the pipe where it meets the plastic.

a pic would help, it sounds like a intake pipe, oil is porbly from, turbo or EGR system

oil comes from the turbo , through the intake pipes /intercooler then leaks from the egr.this oil will be everwherefrom turbo to inlet manifold. A few do it ,if you want this oil to stop then change the turbo or live with it which i do
