Rear multiram not working
« on: 31 March 2009, 16:16:30 »

Notice this one not working when you blip it.  The one at front operates and comes in about 4000 rpm.  Cant feel or hear any leaks around that area.  Tried carb just in case any airleaks, but no noticeable change.  Any ideas greatly appreciated

Mine was a probem with a small U shaped rubber tube at the rear of the plenum where the plastic vac pipe went in. Despite having "checked" it several times the crack underneath went unnoticed. Worth a look again just in case.

check the pipes for holes esp in the far pass side corner, found no another members car that the large pipe had been rubbing no the bulk head where the scuttle sections meet, although not holed yet in his case, and a small pipe round the same area that leads to the vac tank behind the pollen filter.

But in my experience non that lot will work if the supply does not reach the vac tank no the air inlet/bag pipes at the front, with supply there, any hissing could be heard for a few seconds after the engine is cut. Also check the electrical plugs are fitted correctly, both have power supply. Hth

Just been over the back of the engine bay, cannot find nor feel any leaks, I've even checked the vacuum against a known good car and they seem relatively the same in comparison.  With the electrical side of it would that stop the valves working, I thought the multiram worked of a vacuum.  Would it be possible for the valve itself to be at fault.  At a loss now :-/

Just had another look, have had the ram working on test of inlet manifold.  So would I be right in thinking I have a vac leak.
I'm wondering if this has not been working since they put LPG on it.  Only had the car a few weeks and this is v. annoying.

Well myself and Lazydocker had another look at this today and could not find any leaks or snags in pipework.  Had to replace the rear solenoid valve due to a bit of heavy handedness in replacing the pelnum, still not working.  Anybody have anymore ideas as I'm all out.  Car runs perfect no lumpiness or any other symptons.   :'(

BTW thanks LD for LPG pipes and re-calibration :y

I still can't believe it ran with the mapping how it was ::) ::)

Hopefully it's a bit better now... And at least the gas leak has gone :o :o

I assume the valve is connected correctly?

i.e. the feed is to the end and the output on the side?

Is there vaccum getting to the valve feed?

Remember that you need to 'give it death' on the throttle to get the rear actuator to operate.

Yep... Vac to feed is OK

Pipes are correctly fitted

TBH, although I was sat in the passenger seat, I didn't think it was particularly down on power... Well nothing the other 500cc's it needs wouldn't cure anyway ::) ::) ;D ;D

But we did have a play and could get the front multiram to work but not the rear, even with a good bit of throttle use

any hiss for a second or 2 when you turn the engine off?
Is the electrical plug connected?

Tech 2 can test them remotely. But you probably know that.

Ps you do have to berry the throttle to it get to move.

Pretty good, just cost me another £220 for atf and filter change.  Bastard front solenoid had crack in front sump on gearbox.  Seems a lot better now though :y

Gotta sort this Vac problem though, its really bugging me. :(
