idling Problem
« on: 13 April 2009, 20:31:01 »

firstly i would like to appologise for not being around on the forum much the last few months my life has been hetitc.

Well my baby has developed as fault. ill explain first

The car is hunting when idling, not just a little bit but lots. This is the only snag its not stallin and the EML hasnt come on. its the same on gas and petrol.

I thought i might be the breathers but i had a quick look and its not that bad although i will clean the AICV tomorrow. i did notice that the small breather pipe has had better days( buy this i mean its all cracked and maluble) i cant get to the bottom end of it cos of the gas conversion without stripping down most the engine. i have a feeling that i might have a hole in the small breather pipe, if this is the case where could i get a new one from?

Well what do you think guys?

(Think i might have answered my own question)

Well, it will either be ICV, or an air leak...  ...if you have found a suspect pipe, thats a starting point, but worth cleaning ICV as preventative maintenence anyway

Right here it goes... Another members car was also on gas, it was running crap on both gas and petrol but eventually got it running great on petrol. Off he went home and when he got home the car was running lumpy again.
Cut along story short he checked his gearbox oil level which needed a litre and a half to top it up. After he topped up the lumpyness had gone. Apparently the torque converter puts slight load on the engine as there was not enough oil in. Or something like that :)

Well today i cleaned the breather system out.........

i have bruses and cuts all up my wrists. although you might say its easy on a 2ltr which it would be if i didnt have a gas kit fitted.

i originally thought the small breather pipe was tits but i was wrong so wrong. Tthe pipe has seen better days and will get replaced as soon as it arrives at the  VX garage. the hose was full of carbon but the problem was the banion it was blocked solid. and this was so much fun to remove ;) good job i have small hands and arms. ;D ;D ;D ;D

i am surprised that the fault presented itself in a different way. normally with the breather blockin it starts to stall first.  :-?

well its all back together and workin as it should. all i need to do now is top up all my supplies for the next time.
