Hello, I did my wishbones today and all was going well untill I droped the nut of the back bush down inside the subfram. A bit of a daft mistake, can anyone sugest a way of getting it out? or a place that I could get a new one from? the wishbones are all done now except fot that one nut! thanks for any help Dave

your not the first mate. Magnet on a stick? Magnet on a tape measure? Rag on a tape measure and push it through from the other side? (just thought of that last one, i assume it runs all the way through?) i managed to drop a socket down there once, and a lad on here droped the bolt down there a couple of days ago. Wack the sub frame with a hammer or mallet to locate it. Then fish or poke it out. Hth

Good luck in finding it! I managed to drop the rear wishbone bolt into the subframe on friday... and still haven't found it.

I went out and ordered more bolts - and if the rag on a tape measure trick doesn't work - thanks for that, Chris, i'll need to give that a try - I have some replacement nuts here.

PM me and I'll stick one in the post for you, if your local VX supplier doesn't have stock!

A good way to avoid this problem I have found is to use an old wire coat hanger and bend it to hold the bolt on 3 sides of a square.  Lowering it in then is easy!

My sub frame currently holds 1 x rear bush bolt and 1 x 19mm crows-foot socket.....

I bet that sounds nice when you hit the pot holes mate, rattle, rattle, rattle.

Funnily enough, despite my problems with losing the passenger side rear bush bolt in the subframe, I did my drivers side one in exactly the same way - ignoring the instructions in the howto.

If you get right under the car, then it's easy enough to work your arm and hand around the subframe and various steering components to get a good grip on the bolt as you thread it through the subframe!

When I get my set of bolts on weds that's exactly what i'll do (albeit more bleeding carefully this time) with the passenger side one.

Hey I've had to do this job also the other day. But I cant get the wishbones back in place, I can get the front bush alligned and attached and the ball joint but not the rear bush. I have read instructions but the rear (vertical) bush Just doesn't want to go in or allign with the subframe. Any ideas/tips? Cheers
