poorly 2.5 estate
« on: 27 April 2009, 13:27:28 »

i have just bought a 98 reg 2.5 v6 estate and there is a slight knocking which sounds like its coming from the back of the left hand cylinder bank (as u look at the car from the front).  any advice on what this might be and/or remedies would be greatfully received!!

Hi Ange, does it sound like a clickty click type sound? If it is it's most likely a hydraulic lifter sticking, a couple of short (I.E. 500 to 1000 miles between) oil & filter changes should do the trick. Best to use genuine Vx semi-synthetic oil too :y

Does it come in a big tin marked 'Snake Oil'? ;D That stuff just thins your oil, go with the short changes and you'll find it'll cure itself :y
