UK Exhaust prices please.
« on: 19 April 2009, 21:42:46 »

On way for a curry tonight I'm telling my wife how reliable the Omega is and how I'll keep it for the forseeable future and no sooner said I noticed a louder than average boom from the exhaust under load.
Amyway there is a blow and slight rattle from the front area not sure if it's the cat or centre pipe/box.
I'll get it up on ramps tomorrow and find the source but as a comparison can anyone in UK tell me the GM (and poss. non GM price) for X20XEV estate '00 ,cat and front pipe/box.
Also has anyone used the Polish or German suppliers on E bay ? I faintly re call someone using them and being satisfied.
Now I know that y'all will shout " genuine GM " but the Omega is used sparingly and although will be kept on the fleet a little longer it will eventually go so a two year expectation is all I require really .
It's a non GM system currently on it ( Bosal ) so I expect noise levels will be the same.
I'll post up Irish prices  ;D when I get them for you to see.
Thanks

my experience is with v6 engines so its not too much of a help but its generally considered that GM are overpriced(£311 for my 3.2 on trade club) for the new batch of exhausts which are not of the same build quality as the original factory fit system. So eternal car(£90 ish for a v6) or hand made stainless (450odd) seem to be the popular options. Obviously you will probably go eternal car or similar and being a 4pot should be a bit cheaper still i would have thought. Bose(edit, Bosal, yes i ment bloody bosal dam it, load of crap that they are) tend to be frowned upon for loosing their packing. Saw one today with half a dead xmas tree hanging out the back. :-)

Keep off the curries!!

A lot of members give these good reports - especially re price and noise levels - http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Eternalcar__W0QQ_sidZ239919514?_nkw=omega&submit=Search

I used them last time my centres went the quality is ok for what you pay but like all pattern parts they don’t always fit properly.

I had to bend the rear of each side where it joins the back box as it was forcing it up into the bumper skit.

Quality varies - they do make some reasonable stuff, but their budget stuff is some of the crapiest around

Bosals I have heard on Omegas - an I do get to see a few - have sounded harsh and horrible.

Oddly, and surprisingly, not yet seen a v6 with new/crappy GM exhaust on...

The eternal system is about 30 quid per box, so a 2L would be about 60 plus postage.
