I read the "how to guide" on changing the sensor but it said they don't fail it more often the wiring that is damaged.
Has any one tried rewiring one?

Not sure as its as straight forward as that.
Better off replacing it in my opinion.

You could always be the first to try ;)

I am an electronics enginer so I have access to tools and cables etc, so maybe I will give it a go or get one of the lab Tech's to do it for me  ;)

Trouble is, you'll never truely know you've repaired a brittle piece of cable. You will know you haven't when you're on the back of a tow truck.

Don't mess about trying to save a few quid, its one sensor that will, on a v6, really bite you on the arse.

Mine gave up around 700m from home, in another country.  Really not fun.  I carry a spare sensor on long trips with me now (despite having breakdown cover)

The re-wire idea is just to see if it can be done a what was the fault, I hate not knowing why something failed.
I am going to buy and fit a new one

No, Bosch is.

Lol, I suspect I could get that working....or at least identify the faulty area.

As a collegue once said, there is no such thing as digital electronics, its just basterdised analogue.....
