What is this part called???

Help Can anyone please tell me what this part is called??  :-/The MOT uncle said its a "Steering pivot point" Iwould say its a "Center tie rod idler" what is the correct name please. I need a new one for MOT as it has excessive play.                                              Sorry that I nicked this picture but I couldnt find anotherone. :y

As above 'steering idler arm' don't pay over the odds like we did http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1240615354/8#8 the folks on here quoted 30-50 pounds :'( :'( :'(

Sounds about right including fitting, most places charge £100 per hour for labour.

It can be a b!tch to get off, mine was.

Had it replaced at WIM, the lads there had to bash away for over 40 mins at it to get it off.

Luckily, they found out i worked with mobile phones, so after sorting their mobile & PC stuff out, i got it fitted free  :D

Its £35 ish for the part  :y

Thanks Guys,
Just called autovaux and should get the part tommorow, It costs £26.39 inc.vat + £6.90 for post man pat. I will change the parts over on Thursday or Friday (weather permitting). Then Back for Fresh MOT. ;D ( Sorry about spelling lived 2 long in Germany) ;)

there is a technique for removal described in the maint guide - worked for me first bash.

Just had a look sounds as if its not to hard to do but we all know what thought thought.  ;)

The only difficulty is access to get a decent swing on the hammer. ;D
IIRC Mr Haynes calls it judicious tapping  ;D  ;D  ;D ;)

I used a ball joint splitter when I did mine. Worked a treat!  :y

Yeah I struggled a bit but got it in eventually.  :y
I just reverted back to form,           if in doubt ............ give it a clout (or 3)!
