it was a while ago and after reading about Mike Dundees any one got the P/N for non vented pads? i reckon my stealer gave me the wrong ones ages ago i got the recipt somewhere and ill put my p/n up

its all fixed now as i replaced the whole lot with the mintex stup as my brakes were terribley bad

Pretty sure the vented & non-vented pads are the same. MikeD came back with pattern pads that were marked up as non-vented.  :y

Got mine from Camberley Autofactors.

Front pads - £19.98 inc VAT
Pad wear sensors (fronts) - £7.99 inc VAT
Rear discs (pair) - £36.98 inc VAT
Rear pads - £17.98

Based on what I have seen of Vx main dealer prices, you can at least treble the above if you are daft enough to buy from them.

You'll regret that long term - pattern front discs and pads will fail and lead to brake judder - Vx only.  Prices for front discs and pads on TC around £70, front pads only £13.95.  Rear pads £11.59.  REar discs less critical - good pattern ok.

I got a set of Mintex Discs & Pads for my omega from a motorfactors they were a dam site cheaper than Vauxhall even with my Trade card

Mintex are a Trusted brand making thousands and millions of brake components in the aftermarket industry and they also make the discs & pads for various car manufacturers original fit parts!

also the rear vauxhall pads on the omega are a rite pita to fit if youve got new discs too!

Same comments re front brakes - Vx will outlast Mintex front discs/pads without judder.

Mintex make some reasonable stuff, but they also make some real crap, and its the latter than most factors tend to sell.

They were fitted to the car 2 weeks before I bought it from the neighbour, so it wasn't my call as to what was fitted (I just fitted them for him).

Even if the pattern discs/pads don't last as long as geniuine Vx, it won't matter too much because it's the fronts that do most of the stopping.

PS
Those prices you've quoted are not applicable to mine anyway, mine is a 2000 model.

Should be the same, shouldn't they?

Stuff I've bought from CAF has generally been decent quality inc disks (Delphi as I recall).  That price for the rear discs looks suspiciously cheap though. The pad prices are more than Vx on TC.

They are - all models except 2.0Lit up to '97.  After that they also had 296mm dia discs, same as all V6s, prior only 286mm dia :)

I honestly don't have a clue Ian.
Some people have mentioned that having pattern parts for the rear discs & pads is bad news, but as the rear brakes contribute sod all to the stopping power....I'm not going to worry too much about it. If I have to replace them in (say) a years time because they have worn prematurely, it really is no hardship.
I paid £500 for the car, and I know I'll easily pull £1200 if I sold it tomorrow without touching it because there is practically nothing wrong with it.

I guess it's a case of "swings & roundabouts" mate.
The discount given by CAF on all the parts I listed was based on the fact that "Drive Vauxhall of Aldershot" were purchasing the components.
The washer pump was another example of sheer madness IMO.
£5 from CAF....£20 odd quid from Drive Vx.....go figure!

Yeah, same parts ;)

Brakes I wouldn't mess around with the crappier end of the pattern market. Tried it, they were shite, caused hassles, and all replaced with genuine. Cost far more in the long run.  And York meet attendees saw the aftermath of using incorrect pattern parts - not only could that have been fatal, but the damage to the bodywork will cost to put right.

You mean the solid discs instead of vented discs and a piston coming to the end of it travel?  :-/  :-/  :-/
