I think the first port of call is to do the diesel magic trick, take fuel filter off and fill with neat diesel magic.

I think it means problems with temp sensor/hp pump. Double the value of your car.
But if it runs fine ignore it.

Does it start bad when hot? :(

Had this on mine - the dreaded '64'. Basically, the injection pump was naffed.

It ran like this for about 6 months though, before finally failing on me. I tried everything possible, including following the sound advice of fellow OOFers, and a new pump was eventually fitted at a cost of just over 1200 quid.

If you're also having warm-start problems, try pouring a kettle full of cold water over the pump when it's hot. If it then starts reasonably well, you've confirmed the problem. 'Omegatoy' is very knowledgeable on this very issue - hopefully he'll be along soon.

pretty sure its the peitzo lead on the middle injector will cause this but can also be the pump, first thing is diesel magic trick as already suggested, this wll give everything a damn good flush out and certainly help, have had one car where i had to do the magic treatment 4 times but it was a range rovertd :-/ that had not been serviieced for 2 years and had been running on used veg oil, got it in the end tho!!! :y

It's behind the timing case, nearside of engine, below the EGR valve.
You can't miss it - six injector pipes connect it to the injectors!

I forgot about the No.4 injector, even though I've had mine done at about 250 quid. Might be worth checking though.

This injector incorporates the 'start of injection' sensor, but mine threw-up, (IIRC), the 81 code when it played up, with the EML continuously on, and a REAL loss of power apparent.

That said, with the pump and No4 injector changed, TB and Marks DTM then chipped it.
I've not looked back - damn flying-machine now!

Not sure about the 'liquid moly' but fill the filter with Diesel Magic, then run the car around for a day or two.
See what happens then - you never know, it might just do the trick!
