Hi all, hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine!
After a lengthy 'no problem' period and flying through its MOT , my MV6 has decided to have some fun with me. When the car has been sat for a few hours, if I turn the key it fails to turn over and appears to have no battery life. If I then leave the ignition on for about 30 seconds and try again it fires up first time!
Anyone got any ideas what this might be?

Possible Sticking starter solenoid?

Take it all the ignition lights are on a normal.  Had 2 cars with the exact same problem turned out to be the starter, you turn the key nothing, wait a while try a again fine.  It will only get worse.

Yes - all the ignition lights go off at the right time.

Will a blast on a tech 2 show what is wrong?

sounds like a stuck starter motor seek a replacement or have yours refurbished

if you can hear a click but no cranking then it is the motor they can be refurbed easily

tech2 cant diagnose a mechanical part like a starter motor

I know you are all gripped to find out what is happening! I got a jump start and took the car for a good run. This cured the problem for a few days but then the battery died again, so I am now thinking its the battery not taking a charge. Put a tester on it when it wouldn't fire up adn it didn't even show a volt, and shows 12 when its running.

Hi.  Sounds as if your battery is dieing, normaly when your motor is running it should show about 13.5 volts and not 12, have you cheked all the cabels that they are tight and clean? if thats the case try a different battery. might help.

Problem cured - it was the battery, thanks for the help. Got it tested and was only running at half power. Changed it and away we go.

Have you looked at the fuel pump ? The reason for stating this is that I had similar starting problems with my Omega 3.2 V6.

My Omega would not start, leave for a few minutes and the car would start. It was an intermitent and annoying problem.

I checked the battery, alternator , starter motor etc. But the problem turned out to be the fuel pump and the fuel hose feed.

Both were replaced and the car was OK.

Well worth checking.
