2.5V6 running too warm?
« on: 11 May 2009, 11:44:32 »

My 2.5 CDX seems to be running too warm, it goes up to 100° in usual town driving which seems too hot to me, is that right? If I get out of town it appears to settle down but I am nearly always in traffic so it is hard to know.
Flushed the rad and that made no difference but I have noticed when I stop briefly and switch off the temp drops down fast before returning to 95+. It also seems odd that the temp gauge seems to fluctuate wildly at times?

Any ideas? Maybe thermostat?

Seem to. I guess that is why the temp comes down.

I'll check they all come on, may be worth a try.

The thermostat on the V6 is a bit strange in that opening only commences at 92 C and is not fully open until 97.5 C so going upto 97/98 C in town traffic is actually normal (with the standard thermostat in) at which point the fan should cut in. Anything over 100 and id say the thermostat is probably faulty.
Incidentally, Courtenay Sport do a "cool thermostat" that opens at lower temperatures than the very high temp standard one, which is an option if you ever decide to replace 8-)

my miggy was working hot also, after the thermostat change turned to normal and never seen above 97 C (and thats in a crowded traffic with 40 C outside temp)..In winter and spring time normally below 95..
