running the a/c will decrease MPG slightly.  On my 3.0l auto, its by around 1mpg.

So if you keep it on eco all the time, what can happen when you use the AC?

I always keep it on eco, thought I'd give the AC a whirl, and now its overheating!

i never use eco as it makes the car steam up to the point where you have no chance of seeing where you're going. When i use a/c it smells a bit wasm/musty when each time switched on but then clears

You can shut your window and sit in an airconditioned cabin.
