You will still have to wait about 30 mins after taking the battery off. the airbag stores a small charge even after main power has gone.

You need your battery disconnected when the airbag comes off otherwise youe SRS/airbag llight light will be on! It'd need resetting afterwards, ie it won't go out by itself.  :y  :y  :y

I'm not sure what you've bought, but I've never had the air-bag off my car. The cover certainly looked to be integral with the Astra's, but I had a 'new' one to fit in its place. You can only remove what you've got & go from there.  :-/  :-/

yeh i think thats what i`ll do,, i`ll disconnect battery wait half hour then unbolt , i know other cars seem to have enough wire to beable to to have a look to get a better idea
i`ve bought the airbag cover which is the bit that is in the middle of the steering wheel it as the griffin on it, reason being is that my car as got very worn were the horn buttons are and its torn and looks very unsightly

You could always detour a few miles on your way home & show me the finished result! :y  :y  :y  :y
