fault code test

ref fault code test i done the paper clip test as per on this site on a 1998 2.0 16v all that happened was my engine management light went out  the ignition warning light stayed on any ideas i did connect to the correct pins as in the pics here

but surley the light should flash the 12 code test begining. it dos nowt accept knock out the eml light when i diconnect it the eml light comes back on this test was done without engine runnig as per instructions the fault i have is engine staying at 2000rpm the only thing i had done prior to this was wash the car lol

Not on a 98, you'll have the 4 figure P codes :y

You don't get a code 12 on the 2.0L, it gives the fault codes
or nothing if you have no faults stored.
It also gives 4 digit codes, not 2 digit, on a '98.

must be just  the water then cheers ill leave her a few days to dry  i did notice a pool or water wher the pollen filter sits  have to clean the drain out  lol just noticed yeh  the eml dos the codes not the ignition light  im sure me cavy done it by the ign light    thanks silly me

cleaned icv and low and behold revs back to normal also cleand drain at pollen filter side  cured the water  prob thanks  for your help back on road again
