Omega 2.2 Cambelt change DVD?
« on: 11 May 2009, 22:03:24 »

:-? Can anyone enlighten me as to why this DVD is not available? I am desperate to try my own belt & tensioner kit change and despite having kindly been given some printed A4 sheets taken from an Autodata CD by another member (thankyou Mark), I would really love to see it done 'for real' before trying it myself! Surely there must be enough 2.2 16V owners here to make it worthwhile having it in stock in the OOF shop  :question

I don't know as I've never looked at a 2.2 engine in the flesh, but I'm guessing the 2.2 is just the same as the 2.0 with knobs on?

Exactly the same :y

[edit]Not exactly... 2.2 is drive by wire and has a different DIS pack but the belt layout etc is the same.[/edit]

Why is there not one?

Because, in principle, they are the same as the 2.0 cambelts.

There is a 2.2 cambelt DVD, a member here filmed Taxi Drivers old 2.2 estate being done.

I still have a raw copy of it, not sure whats happened to the distribution of it.

I can make copys if needed, but i would need to PM certain people who were filmed in it, to make sure they are OK with me doing it  :y

Hello Guys, & thanks for replying. My car is a 2003 petrol cdx auto, and I know that Haynes have a manual for 2.0ltr up to 1999 model year, would this help me do you think? Anyway, I would really like to have the DVD if possible. Kind regards, Phil. :y

It can only be sold through the shop, as funds raised are used to help offset the costs of running this place.

However, the 2.0/2.2 one is not that good imho - too dark, no real commentry.  Its not really up to the high standard of the V6 one, thus we only ever did a few to get a feel for what members thought of them.

It is hoped we can do another one in the coming months, but that requires a donor car, an expert who can commentate whilst fitting new kit, and someone who is good at filming and post editing, and with the right equipment.

If you really want one, I can put a couple back in the shop, but I would strongly recommend reading the submitted reviews for it first.

:y Hello TB, thanks for your reply. I would really appreciate the opportunity of buying a copy, purely to see for myself 'what goes where' etc. Commentary is not so important as I have a printed copy of the sequence of removal/refitting from an Autodata TIS? kindly given by another member.  :y

I've never done a 4 pot Omega, but done a cam belt on SWMBO's Astra, which is a similar engine. Nothing could have been easier, you just need a cam lock which cost a few quid from a motorfactor/eBay.
