Air Filter

In simple terms please guys & girls what does an air filter do :-? or another words what will happen if its blocked up with C##p  No answers "Filters Air" :D :D :D

itll damage the engine and cause hot spots could blow it up due to air starvation not good.....

could it cause starting problems once the engine is hot :-? just trying to eliminate some simple things before I give in to a new injection pump :( :( :( :(

it could cause starting issues the EMS would kick the MAF up thinking its faulty possibly a good way to test is use your V6s air filter if its goodish in the tractor same size and see what happens:y


im only experianced with petrols so diesels may well be different!

shouldnt admit this on here but not sure where it is on v6 only had it 2 years and looked in the bonnet once ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) pre oof I knew nothing :y thats my next job when the tractor is sorted ;) I will have a look tomorrow, if not another visit to the guys at part co.

On your V6 its just behind the offside headlight. Big black square box.

To do: Replace brake discs and pads; adjust already replaced shoes; check for leaks in oil cooler, cambelt area, crank seals, sump, dipstick; replace osf door; replace a tyre; clean, MOT.

That does pretty much some up what it does though. When you found your filter box and removed the top & the filer panel from it, you'll find sand, bits of leaves etc at the bottom of the box. Without the filter panel in, that would have been drawinto you engine. The filter panel is especially important in a dry dusty environment!  :y

Its more wet and muddy as it goes across fields :D :D :D :D maybe I should swap it for a quad bike ::) anyone got one   ;)
