SUSPECT HEAD GASKET FAILURE?
« on: 19 May 2009, 09:07:06 »

I've been told this,

basically theres brown water (no anti-freeze) in the 4 plug wells, thats it!

I don't think its the head gasket, it has'nt got the tell tail signs of gasket failure, EG; mayo like substance on the dip stick/oil filler cap, no oily deposits in the expansion tank

Any ideas?

No headgasket any where near the plug wells so thats a bit of a poor diag on somebodies part!

Most likely a leaking scuttle cover resulting in water dripping onto the head and getting in the plug wells

Thanks thats put my mind at rest :) ;) :y

The guy from the vectra sri forum told me it was the head gasket ,he based it on the fact that my miggy has done 106000 miles & no vauxhall engine will do that mileage without at least a gasket fail!
He now sounds a complete D#@K! ;D

His next post probably would read something like

"I'll give you £300 for it to save you the hassle of a top end rebuild" ;D ;D
