Front Pads & Discs 98 V6
« on: 25 May 2009, 15:14:48 »

Hi, Hopefully a quick one. I shall be replacing the Front pads & discs on my car over the next few days. I looked in the maintenance section & there is'nt a "how to". Only thing I am unsure about is, do I have to remove the caliper carrier on order to remove the disc. This seems to be an omission from the Haynes manual as well. One other thing. If I do need to remove it is it advisable to heat the struts around the mounting bolts prior to removal.
Thank you, Jez

Indeed... :(

When I did it... I had to leave my car parked in the street all jacked-up with the bits on the pavement, and bus it to the nearest motor factors to get an 18mm socket! Luckily they were open on the Saturday :)

Why is that? even hardened socket sets often miss 18 out. All the more annoying as some other marques wheel nut sizes use 18....?
