As a few of you know we are just waiting for our house in spain to be finished and we are off!!!! two main reasons, one being the ridiculous cost of taxes here on everthing the other being quality of life, so we decided to go live in Spain at 3000mtres above sealevel, where the air is clear and the sun is nice and hot!! one of the Omegas is going with us the other will live here wih a mate ready for use when i come over to do a few weeks work !!
there is no incentive to live here now apart from the the people you know and love, and its ony a 2 hour plane journey away so thats easy,
I just cannot believe the damn politicians cannot see the unrest thats rife in this country, Towncentres no go areas after 8 at night, kids getting shot, drug use rife and the ordinary ctizen spied on with millions of cameras,   how many times does a certain P doherty get caught on camera openly snorting drugs and being let off?  then you get the law abiding citizen who gets done for doing 37mph in a 30 zone gets a large fine and points on his licence cos he is a easy nick? how many of you get burgled or your car stolen or vandalized and the police dont even bother coming round? no let the insurance company pay for it here is a crime number :o sorry guys rant over just had enough of it!!
Omegatoy

Each to their own.
Best of luck mate when you do the move :y :y :y

This is a fantastic country, I served for it and i would never leave, i am british right through.

Look around the world and see all the trouble, i know our crime rate is on the increase, but hand on heart, you can do what you like, go where you like, live in peace.

I know several people who thought the grass was greener on the other side and have now decided to return to GREAT BRITIAN.

No matter what comments and digs come back to this post, you will NEVER change my thoughts on this.

I served for this country, I would do it again, ten fold, you can say the British flag flows through my veins.

 :y :y :y :y :y :y

I too seved my country, and that over a period of 13 Years, i am too British through and through, never the less i live in another country, and would do the samr all over again, its not where you are, but who you are that counts.

It comes down to what is best for you and your Family, it is entirely your own decision where you go and why. If you think that you can Improve your life and your Standard of living, then go for it :y :y :y

Totally agree, it was my opinion and my feelings i was putting across, i was not slagging anybody who has decided, or who will decide to leave the Isles, best of luck to them. But for me, Britian is who i am and where i will see my days out.

That is not what this is about, its about leaving the country, i am still in Britian no matter where i decide to live on the Isles. as said, everyone is entitled to live in the world where they want, but remember where you come from, also people moan about taxes, crime etc etc etc, as i do, but I know where i would rather be. That is my thoughts, if poeple decide to leave the Isles, that is their descision and best of luck to them,

We obviously made the move. Some of the reasons are those listed above. I would say that for pensioners or people of independent means the move is a good idea. Better climate and less worry generally.

It isn't all as rosy as you might think. Using Spain, For example health care for non pensioners costs unless you get a job. If you get a job (and it is a big IF) then the pay and conditions are worse than the UK. Little job security unless you get a government job or a long term contract then it is the opposite - job for life.. Pay at  best 70% of UK levels. Living costs though are less - maybe 70% of UK levels. It used to be cheap here but not anymore.

Social security. Virtually non existent. Young unmarried mothers get looked after by their parents. No free houses, grants and dole each week for life.

Crime and drugs are just as big an issue, certainly in urbanisiations as in the UK. Immigration is possibly a bigger problem than UK.

Red tape is none existent in the UK compared with Spain where it is an art. Also the officials are actually corrupt and take back handers. The Spanish government has set aside 3.5Billion euros to help local councils demolish illegally constructed properties that received illegal planning permission by local councils.
One belongs to Antonio Banderas!
