Broke down again
« on: 04 June 2009, 10:04:17 »

3 miles on the way to work - heard a funny noise and immediately stopped.

Checked car - cam belt in one piece, water pump pulley had two loose bolts - retightened them.

Misfired all the way home, running on 135, 0300 0302 0304 - didn't bother waiting for 0306

Before a lift arrived, plug 2 wet, plenum not yet removed nor bagpipes, but will remove when home.

Why would a whole bank go down like that?

Water pump pully - need to find out if me or electric place left loose - I know it worked loose.

Could it have jammed the cam belt at all and caused tooth jumping?

What else could cause all the 246 misfire errors?

Yikes things ain't going well Martin.

Isn't the water pump driven by the Aux belt? Can't see how it would have affected the cambelt unless something had actually broken off the body of the pump.

The alternator lot should not ahve touched the water pump.

Is the coil pack plugged in?

Is the additional capacitor at the rear of the 2-4-6 bank also connected?

Does it run ok with the MAF disconnected?

May be my fault, may be theirs - but it was fine on Monday

Is the coil pack plugged in?

It was - now in boot

What does it do - yes I did reconnect it when I refitted the heads

Will check when I reassemble.

That said plug 2 was slightly wet

It had been dismantled - found the front ram wire routed differently

water pump pulley OK, timing spot on, either coil pack or wiring to coil pack
