The locating pin has fallen out - not snapped - how do I repair it?

Does this locating pin actually hold the camshaft sprocket in a certain position with respect to the camshaft itself?

If so, that "noise" you heard just before bank 2,4,6 died was probably the valves being bent as the camshaft itself stopped moving while the cam pulley was allowed to spin freely.

Sorry to be the bearer of potential bad tidings, but you may as well prepare yourself for the worst

Looking at the pictures in the Haynes manual, how did the pin fall out? There's a bloody great big plate washer holding it in place via the bolt that holds the sprocket to the cam. :-/

  I've only Haynes pictures to go by, I've never done the job.

best get the head off martin valve damage will have happened bud sorry !! in all the miggy motors i have repaired or stripped never seen one of them move !! check the end of cam isnt cracked pretty sure there a very tight fit

Your heads are OK

The cam pin has been loctited in then gently hammered in.

I better rebuild my original heads for spares I think

They need porting though

I might need to drain some oil due to the rain
