Hi! After cleaning the breather box and plenum on my 2.6, I noticed today I have a leak somewhere. All the pipes I removed have all been put back correctly. There wasn't too much crud inside the box either. As I only do short journeys up here I thought it time to clean the system after reading the how-to's on this forum. One more question, where does the Y shaped pipe go to after connecting to the plenum? Any ideas guys? Thanks.

I've had a lot (about 4 now) of the 2.6 with loose oil cooler pipes bolts where they bolt into the oil cooler (banjo bolts)You will need 4 dowty washers for the coolant bridge and 4 alloy washers for the oil cooler pipe bolts to do the job properly and torque the bolts to 30nm.

Great pic EP! thanks. Ehh excuse my general ignorance but where is the damn oil cooler? is it below the plenum between the V's? The oil leak is visible on the drive but I cannot see where it is coming from. There is no oil leaks/stains visible inside the engine compartment. Thanks.

Yes, the oil cooler is between the V.  You can clearly see the top of it and the pipes running to and from it in the picture.

Hello again, I have taken the plenum off again and there is no oil between the V's. Should there be if the oil cooler is leaking? I have also found out where the oil is dripping from, it is between engine and bellhousing. Any ideas? Cheers.

There are a couple of rubber bungs that you can remove to have a feel around inside the bottom of the bell housing. If it's confirmed only coming from the bottom of the bellhousing and not running around it from above, it points to the crankshaft rear oil seal or the gearbox input seal, unfortunately.

Elite Pete! how do I definitely identify if it is the oil cooler? i.e. would there be oil in the V? How did you find out when you had the same problem? Thanks

I've just had a similar problem fixed. If it is leaking as in this picture in the thread here http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1223978808 then it could well be the crankshaft rear oil seal. (it was with me) see my thread http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1238575229/2#2.

Thanks to everybody who replied. Car is going on the ramp today. Will let you know the outcome.

Well! the car was up on the ramp and the oil stain looks exactly like wakeyomegas photos. There is no oil visible when we took the rubber grommets out and there is no oil running down from the top and outside of the bellhousing. I assume that it is the crankshaft seal unless anybody has any other ideas.

Assume that you have definitely identified that the leak is engine oil and not ATF, although this will make no difference as the gerabox has to come out to replace the crank seal or the gerabox seals. I have just had this problem too, although in my case it WAS ATF and the gearbox seals had to be renewed - cost £285 for gerabox overhaul plus labour costs for removing and replacing - OUCH. So be prepared in either case for a big outlay of wonger although if it is the crank seal it will be cheaper!!
