Key fob battery replacement
« on: 07 June 2009, 10:13:08 »

Hi, my keys are 11 years old and as far as I know still have the original batteries. lately I've noticed it doesn't always work first time, and I have to tap the key on something first. How do I replace the batteries, do I have to get Vauxhall to do it?

Cheers, Paul

small indent in the back of the key,

either use this, or pull to separate fob from 'horseshoe key'  (take care not to lose immobiliser transponder, small black plastic bit)

then gently separate both sides of the fob, carefully remove and replace cr2032 battery, and reassemble.

You have about a minute to do this before the fob 'loses' programming

if it does, just key in ignition to position 1, then press either button, locks activate, and fob resync'ed.

enjoy!

Check the battery post legs (the one in the corner), they have a habit of "fracturing" away from the PCB.
A slight pain to resolder, but can be done.
