Couple more questions
« on: 14 June 2009, 22:12:26 »

Hi all

Have spent the whole day fixing a leaky rocker cover gasket, including cleaning half a ton of oil out of the spark plug wells where it had leaked internally. I now have some very perished boots on the ignition coil, hopefully they will last until Vauxhall can get some new ones in. Does anyone know anywhere that may be able to get them to me quicker than Wednesday??

Also, does anyone know if it is safe to have the engine steam cleaned? Just want to make sure all the leaks are fixed.

Cheers in advance.

Olly

Did you clean the breather system out?? Very important you do this or the replacement gaskets will leak again very shortly...

You need replacement leads?

Be carefully with a steam clean. amazing where water can get to and cause problems. Let it all dry a while before running it again, but to be honest would be better to take the time and clean it by hand witha good de-greaser- washing machine powder dissolved in water works well.

Thanks for the advice.

Are there any guides on cleaning the breather system, or any things to look out for?

The car has the direct ignition so no HT leads, just boots between the coil and sparks.
