TD timing chains

Is there any way I can check the tension / condition of the timing chains without stripping the engine down  :-/

It had fsh up to 108k i got it at 128k (so 20k missing)
its on 131k now and ive ghanged the oil every 1k since to get it ship shape again ......its not ratling as far as i know and is a quiet engine .im just a bit paranoid about these sort of things

If you keep changing the oil every 3k or thereabouts I wouldn't forsee any real problems with it.

I seem to recall, that the sump also has to come off for access to the chain..

Im at me Girlfrends tonight so not got the history to hand ...i seem to remember it being roughly between 5 to  8 k certainly wasent 3-4k

what is wrong with you people? Every 3000km and oil changing? Which car on the world also have interval like that?

Chain has to be change around 500. 000km. and you will also hear this sound like ckckckckckckckckckckckckckckc.....................

Chains dont need replacing as a matter of course. You will hear if the tensioner is gone as it will clatter with a funny rattle on the over run as the tension on the chain reduces.
Like anything though a new one will be better than an old one, but really they dont fail and it isnt worth the expense to change it, you may as well rebuild the engine while its apart for the chain swap as it will be in bits anyway.
